IF Shiny (Queen's Jubilee)
Size: A4
Media: Pen and Ink
Pens: Dip Pens
Gillott 404 / 290
As it was the Queen's Jubilee this week I thought I would take the Illustration Friday theme word 'shiny' and do something patriotic for her. A first for me in the comic strip style...I know.. don't give up your day job!
Three cheers to the 'Baked Bean' and three cheers to all who bothered to come here! Thanks Rod
Edit: (13th June 2012)
I noticed that this cartoon didn't open in lightbox very well so I have disabled view images in lightbox until
I can find a better solution...Now if you click on the comic it will open a window offering you a plus or minus zoom on the cursor..By zooming...it brings the comic up to a more readable size. If anyone knows a better solution please let me know. (I drew the original on international A4 size and scanned it in at 600 dpi).

...a shiny, tiny Jubilee tragedy (so well drawn). Thx for the hip hip hoorays :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! Oh yeah! First: The banner rocks!
ReplyDeleteThen the strip is great. Hahahah! Aaaawwww. Rhis is a no no no. You make me laugh and then make me sigh. Actually, that's the best cartoon humor of all. Got me! Nice one Rod!
I mean "This". This coffee is making me talk funny.
ReplyDeleteAll hail the queen and her shinnies! :) Very nice comic!

Sorry for writing in Spanish, but I made sure that if you put it on Google will translate it into English for you to understand :)))))))))))))))
Buen fin de semana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI love the comic strip, it's great. Love the characters too
Hahaha, oh dear. Hilarious! Note to self, when not actually robbing things, best not to dress like a robber. :D
ReplyDeleteHa, it's TOO GOOD!. Rod, what took you so long?? Do more cartoon strips.
ReplyDeleteSo very very funny! Love the cartoon strip...works perfectly with your mad characters and crazy sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteactually, I think that day job can be put on the short list..
ReplyDeletefun to read both images and text.... Although I've never heard a queen reputed to say "ain't"... especially a British queen...
fun. more please.
Thanks Richard. "ain't" was used as a sort of reference to a supposed commoner background amongst other things!
DeleteThanks Elizabeth (strange that someone named Elizabeth should be the first), Ces, MiDesigns, Patti, Cynthia, Roberto, Alex, Cindy, Ted, Claire and Richard for your kind comments...maybe I'll have another go at comic strip style as I received so much encouragement from you all!!
ReplyDeleteA Gerard comic story forthcoming? It simply has to be.
ReplyDeleteWow Ted...you must have read my mind...although I suppose that a Gerard comic wouldn't have surprised anyone...I am thinking now...maybe if a Gerard comic was successful, one one my best blogging buddies(Yes you Ted) could have a word with his boss at Warner Bros and we could discuss the rights to use Gerard in a film!!!!....:)
Deleteheheh, you silly xDDDDD
ReplyDeleteif i were the thief i'd keep calm and fake a british accent
Faking an accent could also be considered theft!
DeleteVery Funny and a insightful comment on power. But where did the thief get his shiny crown? hum?
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill..Stolen from a crown shop of course.
Deletehahaha "shiny hat" - something my 2-year old cousin would say :) Thanks for posting, this gave me a good laugh!
ReplyDeleteExcellent, so cool cartoon! And happy ending too, the queen wearing her shiny hat again :-P
ReplyDeleteOh dear! This made me laugh. Very funny (and sharp) cartoon.
ReplyDeletehihi, great character the queen :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha! 'shiny hat'! And 'orf' with his head! Too funny. Great cartoon.
ReplyDelete"My loving people, we have been persuaded by some, that are careful of our safety, to take heed how we commit ourselves to armed multitudes, for fear of treachery; but I assure you, I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people. "
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for more movements from your pen, Mr.Penmover!
How can we distrust the shiny daisy protector designer?
