                                                                  Size: 21 x 14cms
                                                                  Media: Ink & gouache
                                                                  on paper
                                                                  Pens: Gillott 404 & 290
                                                                  & waterbrush

I thought I'd better do a Gerard dream for this one as I seemed to draw a blank on anything else. I was also confused as to which medium to use...so I did two drawings this week in different mediums...I could call one of them a rough and one of them finished, but I won't as neither are finished and both are fairly rough!

  2. Both work quite well--Gerard is tall and contained nicely in both. Although I have to tell you how it reminds me of the days when I worked in a very tall building in New York. I was on such a high floor that it was not unusual to be above the clouds. Sunny above, raining below. Come to think of it, Gerard kind of looks like some of the guys I worked with ;)

  3. Oh... I remember this movie; "The amazing Colossal Man". He really tears things up until the army shoots him and he falls into the river. He's shot so dead he doesn't come back up until the sequel. It's good to see ol' Gerard again. Gerard would pop up immediately if he fell into the river.

    1. Sequels are never the same if the main character is dead!

  4. I don't see anything controversial about this post that we can argue about, so that's a new one. ha ha.

  5. Both are great but the second one (in the red jello cube), has a much sharper and more thrilling feeling. For one thing, instead of those apparently clueless cars on their leisurely drives, the second one shows two cars racing toward the colossal Gerard... perhaps his mother and an ex-best friend (or ex-girlfriend!) hoping to talk him out of his destructive rage. Also, the clouds are so nicely defined in the second one.

  8. Playing with plains in his dream... Well I have to say that the red one makes the dream a bit more scary. I like those stylized clouds in the 2nd one too. They're both great! Gerard is awesome.

  9. Gerard is kind of scarey at that height but it's a fun and silly dream for him to be having. I love it! Especially in red.

  11. These are great, the red one makes me think there's gonna be a violent ending for that dream though...maybe all his enemies are in the planes :D
    Never fly on Gerard Airlines.

  12. Oh I have dreams of falling and flying but never had a dream that I was tall. I need to program my dreams. That would be so cool to be that tall. I'd flick the planes like grasshoppers and squish mountain hikers like ants. Hahahahaha! Evil!

    1. Poor hikers...I wonder if you saw Ted's Hiker Leon when you wrote this?

    2. Ted did a new gag about mountain climbers?? Let's all run over there and check it out! Right now! :O

I was just talking to a co-worker about how people will constantly want to 'turn the camera back 180 degrees toward them' in a conversation. Or maybe that's more of a show business thing?

    3. Some people are worse than others...don't think it's only show business. I am the opposite in conversation...I always direct attention to this more deserved guy called Ted....Ted Blackman actually...he's a cartoonist/ Art director working in the animation industry for the famous Warner Bros. His cartoons are funny, far better than mine, his drawings are polished, far better than mine, he's etc etc....oh yeah he's this blue stubbly guy with a funny nose who lives in a bright yellow house....whats the point in talking about me?

    4. I saw Ted's hikers. I think my eyes sustained a hernia after seeing the guy's backpack! Of course I would never really squish the hikers. I think it is rather scary to be flying in a plane and there's a giant rounded man walking about the clouds! Look what he is doing! He got hold of a plane. I hope everyone is wearing their seatbelt and no one is in the lavatory at that time.

  13. Out of the two I like the first in graphite the best. It shows a lot more of your invention and process. I actually like the 'rough' feel, and see it as a valid finish.
It's a statement of what you did and how you got there.
    always very interesting to watch.
